In general, since this offer requires a new voice line activation, customers shouldn't cancel an existing voice line with the intention of replacing it with a newly activated voice line to take advantage of this offer, even if the cancellation happens after the new voice line activation.
Customers should never be told to cancel lines, before or after a promotion, in an effort to qualify or justify a promotion. If a customer does not need additional lines, explore other promotions or discuss device price points. Driving CHURN to close sales is not the right thing to do.
In addition, special rules apply to free line promos, with these ones applying to this one as follows:
- For one year after the offer's announce date (January 11, 2022), customers must maintain the same number of voice (GSM) lines that were active on the account as of that date, plus the newly-activated lines, which includes the free line. Example: An account with 3 active voice lines on January 11, 2022, must activate 2 new voice lines to enroll. They must then maintain all 5 voice lines for 1 full year after January 11, 2022.
- After one year, customers must keep at least 2 paid voice lines AND the two lines added as part of this promotion (the paid line and free new line) that was activated to enroll in this offer to continue to receive the credit.
