New line activation

Activate the required number of new voice lines on a qualifying Essentials rate plan

  • New customers must activate at least 3 new voice lines (2 paid lines and 1 free line). 
  • Existing customers with 1 active voice line must activate at least 2 new voice lines (2 paid lines and 1 free line).
  • The following lines / line types do not qualify:
    • MI, Wearable, DIGITS, LineLink, Nest, and SyncUP lines
    • Lines added to the account via COR (Change of Responsibility) or BAN-to-BAN moves
    • Lines converted from NCC/SCNC to normal Postpaid
    • Lines resumed from cancellation
    • Lines with $0 MRC
  • Future-dated activations, Ship-to activations, and T-Mobile for Business orders placed during the promo period qualify.
  • Since this offer requires a new voice line activation, customers can't cancel an existing voice line with the intention of replacing it with a newly activated voice line to take advantage of this offer, even if the cancellation happens after the new voice line activation.
  • If a customer migrates to Magenta, Magenta MAX, or T-Mobile For Business 13+ rate plans after the promo period, they will be allowed to keep their free line.

To keep this discounted line credit
  • For one year after the offer's announce date (March 24, 2021), ustomers must maintain the same number of voice (GSM) lines that were on the account when they enrolled in the offer including the new free line. 
  • After one year, customers must keep at least 2 paid voice lines AND the free new line that was activated to enroll in this offer to continue to receive the credit.
  • No Install cancellations for lines other than the qualifying paid new line and free line will not impact the free line credits.
  • Lines activated as part of a previous free line promotion do not count towards the minimum number of lines needed to participate in future free line promotions. See How BOGO free line promotions work for complete details.

    • After the offer window has closed, customers who change to Magenta, Magenta MAX, or T-Mobile for Business 13+ rate plans will be able to keep their free AAL based on the new AAL MRC.
Payout

Automatic enrollment in monthly bill credits for the line with the lowest MRC activated during the promo period, up to $15 / $20 (with/without AutoPay).

  • The free line bill credits start within two (2) bill cycles from activation. Make-up credits are not applied for any missed cycles if the customer becomes ineligible and then becomes eligible again. 
  • Customers keep the credit for as long as they meet the promo requirements.
  • Credit applies to the voice line charge only. Chargeable add-ons greater than $0 will be the customer’s responsibility to pay.

Get the deal

  1. Explain promo details under What's the deal?.
  2. For existing customers, confirm they are on a qualifying Essentials rate plan and have only 1 paid voice line:
    • If they have more than 1 paid voice line, they are not eligible for the offer.
    • If they are not on a qualifying plan:
      1. Educate them about the impacts of changing to the qualifying rate plan (the possibility of losing other promotions like the discounted ONE Plus promo or other retired features).
      2. Change the customer to a qualifying plan before proceeding with the new activation(s).
  3. Review these advisements with your customers and make sure your customer understands:


    New customer: To get this offer, you must activate at least 3 new voice lines of service on a qualifying Essentials​ rate plan during the promotional period.

    Existing customer: To get this offer, you must have only 1 paid voice line of service and activate at least 2 new lines of voice service, all on a qualifying Essentials​ rate plan during the promotional period.

    Your credits should begin within your first bill cycle after activation, but in some cases, it may take up to 2 bill cycles to begin. If you don't see a credit on your first bill, don't worry. You'll see a double credit on your second bill.

    Consumer only: You will receive a text message within 24 hours of qualification confirming your enrollment into the promotion.

    You will lose the free line credits if you cancel ANY lines on the account within one year after accepting this offer. After one year, you must keep the 2 paid voice lines along with the free line activated under this offer to keep the free line credits.

    If you cancel a line or change to an ineligible rate plan and lose your free line credits, you have 90 days to resume the canceled line or switch back to an eligible rate plan. You will not receive any credits that were missed. Customers who switch to a Magenta or Magenta MAX rate plan after the offer window is closed will keep their free line. New free line credits will apply based on the new AAL MRC.

  4. Process the required activations and start any port-in requests. T-Mobile for Business: Orders must be placed within the promo period, and DocuSign must be created and completed within the promo period to qualify.

Things to know

  • You can see the free line credits in FDP from Atlas, QuikView, and Samson on the Discount screen (Actions > BAN Discount or Page Options > Subscriber Discount). Customers can only see their free line credits on their bill.
  • The free line credits display on the bill as 2021 Line on us P2 / Line Discount ID210002. The discount codes for this offer are: 21Q11S (sub level discount), 21Q11P (BAN level with AutoPay),and 21Q11F (BAN level without AutoPay).
  • On August 24, 2023, the bill name was updated to Line Discount ID210002.
  • Customers are responsible for all taxes and fees on free lines, if applicable.
  • This offer is for a limited time only and subject to change and should be communicated to customers in this way.
  • Customers can switch to Go5G and Go5G Plus plans and maintain this promo.
