What's the deal?

Activate the required number of new voice lines when they choose a qualifying eligible plan from the list below. *Note: TFB 13+ rate plans are not eligible for promotion. However, customers enrolled in the offer can add additional lines and move to an eligible 13+ line rate plan and retain their discount. 13+ line rate plans listed here are eligible for customers to retain their discount.

Paid lines required

New and existing customers: At least 2 paid voice Lines

New line activation
  • New customers must activate at least 3 new voice lines (2 paid lines and 1 free line).
  • Existing customers must activate at least 1 new voice line on an existing account with at least 2 voice lines (2 paid lines and 1 free line).
  • The following lines / line types do not qualify:
    • MI, Wearable, DIGITS, LineLink, Nest, and SyncUP lines
    • Lines added to the account via COR or BAN-to-BAN moves
      • Customers performing a COR to open a new account using an existing T-Mobile line, who then add two brand new lines will qualify.
      • Existing customers with more than one paid voice line who release all but one via COR before the offer's announce date, will qualify after the BAN reflects only one paid voice line and two brand new voice lines are added to the account within the promotional period.
    • Lines converted from NCC/SCNC to normal Postpaid
    • Lines resumed from cancellation
    • Lines with $0 MRC
  • Future-dated activations, Ship-to activations, and T-Mobile for Business orders placed during the promo period qualify.
  • Since this offer requires a new voice line activation, customers can't cancel an existing voice line with the intention of replacing it with a newly activated voice line to take advantage of this offer, even if the cancellation happens after the new voice line activation.

Combinability
  • Can be combined with Carrier Freedom / BreakFree and Keep and Switch on the same line.
  • Can be combined with device offers on the same line.
  • Can be combined on the same account with other free line promos provided that any prior promos are compatible with the required rate plan. 
  • The rules for Combining Free Line Promotions are not applicable for this promotion. 
    • Customers who have participated in a previous 3rd Line Free promo can participate in this offer by only adding 1 line. 
    • This applies if the customer was enrolled prior to the start of the promotion. 
    • Customers cannot, however, qualify for two free line promotions within the promo period.
  • Customers will not be enrolled in the 2020 Line on Us Promo 10 while the 2020 Line on Us Promo 3 is open.
  • Can be combined with TFB 2020 Switch Promo 3.
  • Device offers can be stacked with this offer.
Limits
To keep this discounted line credit
  • For one year after the offer's start date (June 26, 2020), customers must maintain the same number of voice (GSM) lines that were on the account when they enrolled in the offer including the new free line.
  • After one year, customers must keep at least 2 paid new line AND the free new line that was activated to enroll in this offer to continue to receive the credit.
Not available for
  • Not available for existing customers who have fewer than 2 voice lines unless they activate at least 2 new lines during the promo period to become eligible.
  • Prepaid accounts
  • T-Mobile for Business accounts with 13+ total voice lines
  • Lifeline accounts
  • Activations / DASH / ship-to orders placed before June 26, 2020
  • *Amplified rate plans on brand-new activations (customers already enrolled in the promo who migrate to qualifying Amplified rate plans will keep it at the BAN level)
  • Any rate plan not listed in the SOC Lookup list.
Payout type

Automatic enrollment in monthly bill credits for the line with the lowest MRC activated during the promo period, up to $35 / $40 (with / without AutoPay).

  • The free line bill credits start within two bill cycles from activation. Make-up credits are not applied for any missed cycles if the customer becomes ineligible and then becomes eligible again.
  • Customers keep the credit for as long as they meet the promo requirements.
  • Credit applies to the voice line charge only. Chargeable add-ons greater than $0 will be the customer's responsibility to pay.

Review & take action

  1. Explain promo details under What's the deal?.
  2. For existing customers, confirm they are on a qualifying plan and have at least 2 paid voice lines:
    • If they have only 1 voice line on their account, they are not eligible unless they add at least one more paid line in addition to the free line in order to qualify. *Exception: If existing customers started with 1 voice line at the time this promo began, they will be eligible if the two lines are activated within the promo period. Customers do not have to activate both new lines at the same time to qualify.
    • If they are not on a qualifying plan:
      1. Educate them about the impacts of changing to the qualifying rate plan (the possibility of losing other promotions like the discounted ONE Plus promo or other retired features.
      2. Then change the customer to a qualifying plan before proceeding with the AAL.
  3. Review these advisements with your customers and make sure your customer understands:


    New customer: To get this offer, you must activate at least 3 new voice lines of service on a qualifying T-Mobile ONE, Simple Choice, Magenta, T-Mobile Essentials, or Business Unlimited​ rate plan during the promotional period.

    Existing customer: To get this offer, you must have at least a 2-voice line account and activate at least 1 new voice line of service on a qualifying T-Mobile ONE, Simple Choice, Magenta, T-Mobile Essentials, or Business Unlimited​ rate plan during the promotional period.

    Your credits should begin within your first bill cycle after activation, but in some cases, it may take up to 2 bill cycles to begin. If you don't see a credit on your first bill, don't worry. You'll see a double credit on your second bill.

    Consumer only: You will receive a text message within 24 hours of qualification confirming your enrollment into the promotion.

    You will lose the free line credits if you cancel ANY lines on the account within one year after accepting this offer. After one year, you must keep at least 2 paid voice lines along with the free line activated under this offer to keep the free line credits.

    If you cancel a line or change to an ineligible rate plan and lose your free line credits, you have 90 days to resume the canceled line or switch back to an eligible rate plan. You will not receive any credits that were missed.

  4. Processing the required activations/AALs and start any port-in requests. T-Mobile for Business: Orders must be placed within the promo period, and DocuSign must be created and completed within the promo period to qualify.

Things to know

  • You can see the free line credits in FDP from Atlas, QuikView, and Samson on the Discount screen (Actions > BAN Discount or Page Options > Subscriber Discount). Customers can only see their free line credits on their bill.
  • The free line credits display on the bill as 2020 Line on Us / Line Discount ID200006. The discount codes for this offer are 20Q23F, 20Q23P, 20Q23S.
  • On August 24, 2023, the bill name was updated to Line Discount ID200006.
  • Customers are responsible for all taxes and fees on free lines, if applicable.
  • Rate plan changes from plans listed here as eligible to newer versions (e.g., from Magenta Plus to Magenta MAX) do not typically impact enrollment. To confirm, check the specific rate plan page in C2 for any limitations. 
  • This offer is for a limited time only and subject to change and should be communicated to customers in this way.
  • A rate plan change to a qualifying Go5G Next (or newer versions like Experience Beyond) rate plan will maintain this promo unless specifically noted otherwise in plan pages.
