What's the deal?

Existing customers must have at least 2 paid voice lines and activate 1 new voice line on an existing account (2 paid lines required, 3rd line or above can be free).

Existing customers with single voice line accounts must activate 2 new voice lines on their account to reach the 2 paid line requirement. (1 new line paid, 1 new line free).

New customers can get a voice line on us with the Magenta "2020 3rd Line On Us 3" or 3rd Voice Line Free Essentials "2020 Essentials Line on Us 4" offers. Customers who activate a new account during the promo period are considered new customers for the duration of the offer's availability in market.

  • The following lines/line types do not qualify:
    • MI, Wearable, DIGITS, LineLink, Nest, and SyncUP lines
    • Lines added to the account via Change of Responsibility (COR) or BAN-to-BAN moves
    • Lines converted from NCC/SCNC to normal Postpaid
    • Lines resumed from cancellation
    • Lines with $0 MRC
  • Future-dated activations, Ship-to activations, and T-Mobile for Business orders placed during the promo period qualify.
  • Since this offer requires a new voice line activation, customers shouldn't cancel an existing voice line with the intention of replacing it with a newly activated voice line to take advantage of this offer, even if the cancellation happens after the new voice line activation.
  • If customer canceled a voice line within the past 90 days (excluding CORs and No Installs), they are not eligible for this promotion.

This deal is great for existing customers – they can add a free line to their older plans as long as they have 2 paid lines!

2020 Line On Us 3 (Offer ID: BGS38 / PR213496) - Told customer that to qualify for a free line free via bill credits, they must activate the required number of voice lines on a qualifying rate plan during the promo period. Advised there is 1 free voice line maximum per account.

Combining with previous free line offers

Customers who have a free line from a previous promo activated before November 25, 2020 can keep that free line and participate in this new offer if:

  • They have at least 2 paid lines on their account.
  • Their rate plan is eligible for both promos.

Limitations

  • 1 redemption (1 free voice line with this offer) per account; can be combined with previous free lines.
    Exception: From November 25 - December 3, 2020, customers could only participate in one of the following overlapping free line offers to receive 1 free line during the overlap period: 
    Customers will be systematically enrolled into the correct free line offer.
  • Not available for T-Mobile for Business accounts with 13+ total voice lines; accounts with 12 or fewer voice lines are eligible

Get the deal

  1. Explain promo details under What's the deal?.
  2. For existing customers, confirm they are on a qualifying plan:
    • If they are not on a qualifying plan:
      1. Educate them about the impacts of changing to the qualifying rate plan (the possibility of losing other promotions like the discounted ONE Plus promo or other grandfathered features).
      2. Change the customer to a qualifying plan before proceeding with the new activation.
  3. Review these advisements with your customers and make sure your customer understands:

     Existing customer: To get this offer, you must have at least 2 paid voice lines and activate at least 1 new voice line on a qualifying rate plan during the promotional period.

    Existing customers with single voice line accounts: To get this offer, you must keep your paid voice line and activate at least 2 new voice line on a qualifying rate plan during the promotional period.

    Your credits should begin within your first bill cycle after activation, but in some cases, it may take up to 2 bill cycles to begin. 

    Consumer only: You will receive a text message within 24 hours of qualification confirming your enrollment into the promotion.

    You will lose the free line credits if you cancel ANY voice lines on the account within one year. After one year, you must keep at least 2 paid voice line along with the new free voice line activated under this offer to keep the free line credits.

    If you cancel a voice line or change to an ineligible rate plan and lose your free line credits, you have 90 days to resume the canceled line or switch back to an eligible rate plan. You will not receive any credits that were missed.

  4. Process the required activations.

    T-Mobile for Business: Orders must be placed within the promo period, and DocuSign must be created and completed within the promo period to qualify.

Known Issue: Free Line and Incompatible Device Offer combined on same line

Some customers have been enrolled in this free line offer and a device promo that shouldn’t have allowed to combine on the same line. We are aware that customers were enrolled in both promotions, and as long as they maintain offer requirements for both, we will not unenroll them. See Limitations for a full list of incompatible phone offers that could be impacted.

For customers enrolled into both promotions, advise: You are currently meeting the promotional requirements for both of these offers. Our systems enrolled you into both, and we are not going to take that away from you as long as you continue to meet the promotional requirements for both offers. Enjoy the extra promotion on us!

  • Customers should never be told to cancel lines, before or after a promotion, to qualify for or justify participation in a promotion. If a customer does not need additional lines, explore other promotions, or discuss device price points. Driving CHURN to close sales is not the right thing to do.
  • You can see the free line credits in FDP from Atlas, QuikView, and Samson on the Discount screen (Actions > BAN Discount or Page Options > Subscriber Discount). Customers can only see their free line credits on their bill.

The free line credit applies to newly activated lines with logic this way:

  • AAL lines with subscriber-level MRC receive the credit first before lines that are included in a family/pooled plan MRC 
  • Lines with lowest MRC receive the credit
  • If multiple lines have same lowest MRC, lines with earliest activation date/time receive the credit

No, only the exact qualifying rate plan SOCs listed under What's the deal are eligible for this offer. Though the plan SOCs look similar, the difference of a digit or letter in a SOC means that the plans are different.
